Firstly, The Bay, where our Filey cottages are located. For dog owners, it’s a great site. Lots of bins, so you don’t have to carry your dog waste too far. Flat and easy to walk for your dogs, but on site, they should be on a lead. Easy access to the beach, from any property on site, and the beach that is accessible from the bay is dog-friendly all year round. There are areas of the beach (along the main promenade) that have restricted access, but you can walk along the beach to Filey with your dog. We’ve listed some of our favourite dog-friendly places below:
The Boat Shed – Open in the evenings and serves some of the best pizzas we’ve had. During high season, dogs are restricted to the outdoor dining area; during the off-season, one dog per table is permitted inside. Well worth a visit and they do amazing cocktails too!
The Glasshouse at Charlottes – In the centre of Filey, The Glasshouse is a truly unique location, home to the 2nd oldest vine in England, dating back over 200 years. In Summer, you can see the abundance of grapes on the vine, before they are sent off to become a fine vintage. The food is good, and there is a heated, undercover area where dogs are permitted.
The Cobblers Arms – A wonderful local micro pub. Dogs and humans (in that order) are most welcome, and the pub boasts a good range of guest ales for you to try. If your dog is well-behaved, there’s likely to be more than one or two treats on offer!
Kayleigh’s Cafe – Typical Cafe serving good food throughout the day, particularly good for breakfast and of course, your pooch can go too.
Thirty Coffee Shop and Eatery – This family and dog-friendly cafe boasts artisan coffee, freshly baked goods, breakfast, light bites, and afternoon tea. Well worth a visit.
The John Paul Jones – The on-site pub at The Bay is a great venue for dogs; however, it is very expensive compared to other pubs and cafes in the area.
The Station Hotel – A community pub in the centre of Filey offering good food, drink and entertainment. It is totally dog-friendly, so your four-legged friend can go wherever you go!
The Star – Another community pub in the heart of Filey. Dogs are permitted in the beer garden, but not in the main dining area of the pub.
The Five Stones, Wetherspoon’s Pub at Primrose Valley – During busy times, access is limited to only those staying on the site. Worth checking to see if they are allowing non-site guests in, and there is a large outdoor area where you can eat/drink.
Bonhommes Bar – Recognised for its excellent selection of beers and real ales by CAMRA, this dog-friendly pub is in the heart of Filey, near to the Crescent Gardens and bandstand. There is live music on a Sunday, a regular quiz on a Saturday and lots of treats for well-behaved pooches!
